Step 1.
The pin is inserted through a prepared hole, after which the collar
is threaded onto the pin.
Step 2.
The installation tool is placed over the pin, and the threaded thimble
component is spun onto the pin until sufficient threads are engaged
for a secure fit.
Step 3.
The thimble pulls on the pin while the anvil component of the tool moves
over the collar. The anvil pushes on the collar forcing it to mold itself
against the grooves of the pin in a swaging action.
Step 4. The
swaging action induces tension in the pin, providing the necessary clamp
force.
Step 5. Hydraulic
pressure pushes the tool off the installed fastener. The threaded thimble
spins off the pin, releasing the installation tool.
